Dysport, like Botox, is an injection proven to help smooth the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines without changing the look or movement of the rest of your face. Dysport injections in Pennsylvania, is a neuromodulator that, like Botox, is derived from the botulinum toxin. It works by temporarily paralyzing muscles. The following may affect when you may have your procedure or even if you will tolerate it.
- Known hypersensitivity to Botox / Dysport
- If you are pregnant, or suspect you may be pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding as Botox and Dysport are contraindicated during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Before Your Procedure
Avoid any over-the-counter medications that could cause blood thinning for a few days before treatment. This will increase chance of bruising.
- Aspirin or aspirin-containing products
- Vitamin E
- Fish Oil
For 24 Hours after your Treatment
Do NOT
- Massage injected area
- Exercise vigorously
- Drink red wine
Expose area to excessive heat (hot tub, sauna, tanning, sun)
Contact our office immediately if any of the following occur
- Excessive Swelling or Pain
- Increased warmth at or around the treated area beyond 48-hours post-treatment.
- Extreme Itching

- Known hypersensitivity to Botox/Dysport
Precautions
If you have any of the following you may still get the service but must be advised you may be more sensitive and have more chance of a reaction
- Taking Aspirin products or blood thinners you run the risk of more bruising
Prior to Appointment
If you have any of the following you are not a candidate for the service and need cancelled/rescheduled
- No exercise within 1 hour of appointment
- Avoid alcohol 24 hours before appointment
Post Appointment
- No cardio exercise for 24 hours
- No red wine for 24 hours

You should wait at least 90 full days between Dysport injections.
How long does Dysport usually last?
You’ve got better things to do than think about what your frown lines look like. Dysport may help improve the look of lines for up to 4 months. Most patients see improvement in 2–3 days after treatment, but 2 weeks for final results.
What are the possible side effects of Dysport?
The most frequent side effects are nose and throat irritation, a headache, injection site discomfort, skin reactions at the injection sites, upper respiratory tract infection, eyelid swelling or drooping, sinusitis, and nausea.
What is the difference between Dysport and Botox?
There is one important difference between Dysport and Botox; they are dosed differently. For example, 50 units of Botox does not equal 50 units of Dysport.
